Yea, I'm not too sure about Zito being THE guy, but he was going to make big money no matter who paid him. Watch out for his stamina in big games, as he relies on his hook more, his tendons from the elbow to the wrist start pounding and after a certain point, the pitch is gone.

Should be a solid guy in the rotation for a while though...Benitez is one of those players you just love to see come out of the bullpen to pitch the ninth...IF it's not for your team! Is he a fat-ass and that's why he's not as effective? I stopped carrying him as a closer in fantasy a few years back, because he's a roller coaster ride every year it seems.

Yea, those games should be sweet - - -

Initial Saddam Reaction:

If they have the picture, then it’s up to them I guess…

This is creepy as hell. I’m not even sure most people in Iraq think they’re better off now than they were under Saddam. That’s an important thing to consider at this stage. Apathy towards his death could be widespread, and if that’s the case on the streets tomorrow, then we’re dealing with something even worse at this very moment.

Anger or celebration…either would be better in my mind than apathy.

(On another site a few moments after it hit the newswire)

The ultimate for the new year is to see Schilling and Zito battle it out at Fenway in June/July--Barry Bonds hits the go ahead HR in the bottom of the 8th, and Beneitez closes the ninth...but alas, no!!!!! because Beneitz is a bum and the Gigantes spent all of that money on 2 dudes(Bonds-Zito); they didn't spend it on Gil Mecheor Suppan, or whoever the fuck...

Any thoughts on Saddam? Damn, I thought he would be pardoned by Bush. I thought he would get another chance (aka Trump and Tara), maybe even get the Foreign Ministrer's post- a title he once held)

The pardon made sense because Ford was hand picked after S. Agnew. If only we could've have been a fly on the wall when the powers that be were choosing the new VP. -the idea of parden probably the main factor in the choosing.

1970's - seemed like a good time to be a live if you had a steady inflation proof job and didn't give a flip about politics.

I've heard Ford's reasons for pardoning Nixon, but a month outta the gate? Wasn't the best first impression.
