He was an athiest when it came to his contemporary Schrodinger's theories. So he didn't really understand how the universe worked. One could argue at even the most basic of levels. Schrodinger was right. Plus, Einstein was wrong about Nazi Germany's nuclear weapons program. Just saying, besides relativity and photogenics, I don't think Einstein helps us measure things requiring faith. Einstein failed quantum mechanics.
